Season 2024 -2025 has been very disappointing for honey production due to a lack of eucalypt flowering and generally very dry conditions. There was some honey from blackberries and clover but not much else. Hives have gone into winter in reasonable condition due to no honey having been harvested, hopefully they will get through to spring particularly due to warmer than average winter temperatures. The inevitable arrival of the destructive varroa mite is hanging over our heads. We are hoping that it doesn’t come too soon and we can have another season without it hurting our bees and we can have a better season than last year.
